Business Multimedia Kiosk Systems
From 1994 through 1997 ICASIT and other partners, including The
Redmon Group were involved in the design, implementation, and support
of a number of multimedia kiosk projects for George Mason University and
other sponsors. Many of ICASIT's graduate students gained excellent experience
in multimedia technology and project management as these systems were
deployed
- School of Business Administration Information Kiosk
The SBA Kiosk System enabled students to view information about the
Business School including: acceptance, degrees offered, alumni profiles,
course catalogs, sample syllabi, faculty profiles, and grants &
scholarships. Kiosks were first located in Robinson Hall and later in
Enterprise Hall. Sponsor : SBA
- Student Fiscal Services (SAM) Kiosk
Located in the Student Union I Building, the Student Fiscal Services
Kiosk system provided information to students such as tuition rates,
payment deadlines, payment assistance programs, and guidelines for filling
out forms. Sponsor : GMU Comptroller's office
- College of Arts & Sciences Kiosk
The College of Arts & Sciences Kiosk enabled students to view information
about some College of Arts & Sciences departments: acceptance, degrees
offered, alumni profiles, course catalogs, sample syllabi, faculty profiles,
and grants & scholarships. Sponsors: Departments of Psychology and
Geography
- School of Nursing Kiosk
The School of Nursing Kiosk was designed to enable students to view
information about the School of Nursing including: acceptance, degrees
offered, alumni profiles, course catalogs, sample syllabi, faculty profiles,
and grants & scholarships.
Other Kiosk Systems Include:
- Fairfax County - CRiS
A touch screen county resident information system currently employed
in the Fairfax County library systems. CRiS integrated multimedia technology
was and is a collaborative effort between the Redmon Group, Fairfax
County and ICASIT.
- "Mason Rider" Commuter Kiosk (Under a grant from
the US Department of Transportation to the GMU Institute of Public Policy)
Located in the Student Union I Building, the Mason Rider kiosk assisted
students in selecting the best means via mass transportation to arrive
at their destination. Students select their destination, departure time,
and arrival time and the kiosk printed out an appropriate schedule.
