TENTH KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT ROUNDTABLE

The Knowledge Management Roundtable will convene its next meeting on August 16 at George Mason University's Arlington Campus.

Over the past two years, many private and public sector organizations in the Washington DC region have made significant progress with different facets of their knowledge management programs.

At the August 16 KM RT meeting, a five to six member panel of KM practitioners will provide an overview of that progress and will discuss what has worked and where advances still need to be made, as well as speculate about the key issues that will be addressed with KM activities in the future.

Thus far, the panel consists of the following KM advocates:

Mark Addleson
  Professor,
  School of Public Policy, GMU

Carol Bothwell
  CKO and Vice President,
  Computer Sciences Corporation

James Jacobs
  Research Director,
  Gartner

Get W. Moy
Chief Engineer, and Director, Engineering and Base   Development, Naval Facilities Engineering Command

Elsa Rhoads
  Knowledge Management Architect,
  Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation

Please join this panel and other KM RT participants in this update on the State of KM.

Agenda for August 16 Knowledge Management Roundtable.

KM RT SURVEY ON KM

Please carefully answer the questions in the KM RT Survey on KM. These survey questions are intended to obtain a sense of how KM RT participants and their organizations view the application of KM.

The results will partially inform discussion at the August meeting. Participants may then compare their responses to those of the broader group, and the KM RT can be more responsive to its participant's needs and interests when planning future programs.

This survey can be viewed and answered at

DIRECTIONS TO AUGUST 16 EVENT

The KM RT will convene at 9:00AM at George Mason's Arlington Campus. The best mode of transportation is the Metro. Take the Orange Line to the Virginia Square/GMU station. Facing North Fairfax Drive, the Arlington Campus is across the street and to the right, just beyond the FDIC building. Our meeting will be in the red brick building, room 244.

For those who must drive, exit I-66 at Glebe Road. From the east, turn left onto Glebe and then left onto Fairfax Drive. From the west, the exit turns into Fairfax Drive. After about one mile, you will see the Arlington Campus on your left. Sparse two- and four-hour metered parking is sparse on the surrounding streets; but nearly 80 10-hour meters (bring quarters) are available just beyond the Arlington Campus on a dead end portion of Fairfax Drive. Other commercial parking is available in the office buildings a couple blocks west of the Metro station.

REGISTRATION

Preregistration is not required for this event, but please inform me of your intentions concerning participation in it before Noon, Monday, August 13 so we might provide appropriate amounts of comestibles.
